andrea and rich

i also shot a wedding for andrea and rich this weekend in san diego. they had their wedding at mission village and it was beautiful! their reception was in a room that overlooked all the boats in the marina. at the reception, andrea surprised rich with a song she had written and recorded (she is an amazing singer!) and his expression was SO SWEET! you can hear some of her songs by clicking here.

brittny and steve

i had two weddings in southern california last weekend, and brittny and steve were my first. they were married in the san diego temple on a perfect day in sunny la jolla! here are some of my favorites...

we met the night before to do most of the bride and groom portraits. their videographer, perry, was also there. this was our second wedding together, and he is such a pleasure to work with.

steve and brittny claimed they were awkward in front of the camera, but we got TONS of great shots, and i think they were really sweet together! i think steve even got into taking pictures by the end of our first night of shooting!

jess & nik's engagement book!

jess and nik decided to do one of the guest book's that i offer to my clients with the pictures from their engagement shoot! the final book is 8x11, and they are always a really popular part of the weddings! guests love browsing through the pictures as they sign, and then after the wedding, its fun for couples to display the books instead of the old fashioned guest books that we all have sitting in a random box in our garage :)

now this was a marathon engagement shoot! but it had to be because this is my first sister to get married!!! i'm so excited! jess and nik came up for their engagement shoot, and we definitely made the most of the time they had. they really have fun together, which is obvious in their portraits!

the first day, it was SO WINDY and absolutely FREEZING, so it was pretty miserable for all of us. we got some great shots, but we were definitely limited because of the weather!

the second day, we went to a different location and the weather was much nicer! it was still a little chilly, but jess just pretended she was a swimsuit model shooting a catalog during the winter ;)

of course, i will be shooting wedding portraits for them too, so look for those in the future!

i'm sure some of my clients have been wondering why i've been turning down sessions or weddings in the summer and early fall - well, here she is! we will have another little girl at the beginning of august (or earlier if i have anything to say about it!) so i'll be shooting my last wedding at the end of june and then taking some time off. but don't worry - come fall, i'll be back! and i'm sure there will be plenty of posts of my new little one once she gets here!

birthday girl!

we celebrated tyler's birthday with a fun trip to the city this year! i had the living room decorated in the morning when she woke up. i was attempting to be a cute mom this year, and i have to say that i know now that my talents lie elsewhere!

we are trying to break the thumb habit - and the best part is most of the time she's got her thumb in her mouth and her finger resting in her nose! she doesn't pick it, so i don't know why its more comfortable that way, but it sure looks great in pictures doesn't it???

why do we use ribbon on presents? its always the most frustrating part for kids!

she got a princess dress and shoes so of course we had to put it on right away. i loved the little toes peeking out!

my two boys waiting patiently for their food at lunch :) this shot cracked me up!

the servers brought tyler a dessert and sang to her. she was talking to everyone before that, but as soon as she got all the attention - she wasn't a fan! but isn't this the coolest dessert ever? it was VERY messy!

we went to the national park near the city later in the day, and the kids loved hiking around and running through tunnels.

i saved the cake for the end of the day, and she was SO EXCITED about it! it turned out okay, but NOTHING like the picture, and had it not been for my patient husband who helped me put it together, i would have been tempted to dispense with the cake altogether. this was by far the hardest part of my "cute mom" idea! :)

the day was hard for us parents, but the kids had a blast, so it was all worth it!

this was just too funny not to post! i still cringe when i leave my daughter home with my husband to think of what her hair will look like if he has to take her out in public! obviously men learn their "hair-fixing" talents at a young age - my son helped his sister with her hair this morning.

of course she loved it and thought she was beautiful with all the colors!

here it is! this is the wedding i did last weekend with heather from amorology weddings. like i said before, it was a dream day - beautiful weather, small intimate ceremony, super-sweet bride and groom, gorgeous decor.... i could go on and on! jenn and abel really wanted to capture the candid moments of their family and friends, and the day was so relaxing that everyone really enjoyed their time together!

this is abel and his daughter - you can tell they have a very special relationship!

i loved all the detail - from the gorgeous plates and goblets to the beautiful tent.

unfortunately, my main computer is still broken, so i'm not able to post the slideshow until after i get it back, but i wanted to post some of my favorite pictures from the day. i will add the slideshow soon (cross your fingers for me - they say tomorrow, although they also said today!)

i know i've been talking about updates forever, but i'm finally getting them up! i added some cute newborn and engagement shots, but my favorite section that i've updated so far is the family "together" section. i left a few of my favorites, and switched out the rest. what i've got now completely defines the type of family work i LOVE to do. the candid, imperfect, beautiful relationships are what i really strive to capture with each family shoot. here are a couple of my favorites, but make sure to check out all the new stuff on my website!

as soon as i get my computer back, "little ones", "older ones", and "weddings" will be updated as well!

NIGHTMARE WEEK!

list of fun things that made life fun last week...

1 - my poor powerbook froze on me and then wouldn't even start up! i went to bed after a couple hours of looking online for some solution on our pc. after an early morning apple store appointment, it was all taken care of. don't worry - its just the motherboard, and will take a week to fix even though i had a wedding two days later. (sarcasm)

2 - tried and failed to download a new printer driver on my hubby's pc three times (each download taking over an hour). new printers do come with CDs with the drivers on them, but mine got stuck in my powerbook when it froze, and i couldn't get it out

3 - i decided that whatever internet service i chose was just plain too slow. they told me dsl was slower than cable, but this was ridiculous! decided i would pay anything to upgrade because i just couldn't handle it anymore!

4 - after two hour phone call to my internet service, we found out my dsl was testing below dial-up speeds (i'm glad it was my internet and not just my lack of patience!)

5 - my plane was delayed over an hour, and the passengers consisted of myself, one other business traveler, and a class full of 11 and 12 year olds on a "discovery learning tour". you can use your imagination on the details of waiting in the airport and the flight.

6 - because my plane was delayed, shuttles to the rental cars were few and far between and i waited half an hour at midnight on the curb. then the rental agency i had my car reservation with was closed.

BUT....

i had an AWESOME wedding on saturday that i will be posting as soon as i get my computer back. the bride and groom were SO NICE, and it was a beautiful day in san diego. it was a small intimate ceremony, and the whole day was very relaxed and calm. i worked with heather from amorology weddings again, and was not disappointed with all the little details as usual!

morgan and dallin

morgan and dallin got married last weekend in southern california. it was a little stormy, and i think we were all watching the clouds and the weather reports all day long! it was gorgeous for the ceremony, then it rained, then it was on and off sunny during the couple's portraits, then it rained, then it finally stopped for the reception - but not before they had already moved the tables and everything inside!

morgan looked absolutely gorgeous! it was also a really fun wedding for me because my sister was one of the bridesmaids along with morgan's two sisters, so it was fun to hang out with them all!

they had hot dogs and hamburgers for the reception, and it was set up like a 50s style diner - complete with a movie set designed especially for them! i posted so many pictures, that i wasn't going to put any from the reception, but i wanted to post this one of the sign on their movie set.

well, we are finally completely moved! i have been DYING without my internet and office set up, and am glad to be back getting things caught up!

this was a double senior shoot that i did the day before i left arizona with two super cute girls, and i thought it turned out great! the first girl is actually the sister of a bride i did last year.

since the decision to move came about pretty quickly, things are complete madness at my house! we are packing non-stop during the day, and then at night i've been trying to get my last few photo sessions shot and edited. unfortunately, i haven't been able to take any additional sessions, so things on the blog have been a little slow!

here is one fun family from the other day...

you might think i posed this one, but as i was switching lenses, i just told the kids to stand up against the wall and they all struck a pose!

and some alone pics for mom and dad. they were laughing about the sun catching mom's red hair, but i actually loved it!

the carrs are such a great family! the kids organized this photo shoot for their mom's birthday which i thought was so thoughtful! what mom doesn't want portraits of their kids?

i wasn't going to use this location because the vines weren't in bloom, but i actually love the stark contrast between the white fence and vines and the colors of their clothes. it makes me think of winter :) which we don't have much of here!

the hunt family

the hunts are good friends of ours from california. they come out every once in awhile to visit, and when they knew they were planning a trip, we decided it was a perfect time to get their first family portraits done! little logan is almost 6 months, and it was so fun to finally get to see them!

how can you resist that smile in the last one?!

how cute are these little boys?! i always enjoy shooting brand new babies - and two is even better! i also put in a couple of their gorgeous mom because she was just so sweet with them!

the relationship between twins is always so sweet, and i love how comfortable they are when they are all cuddled up together.

i have a couple of fun photo shoots to post, but first i wanted to let you all know that jamie hammond photography is relocating! we will be moving to northern california very soon!

for those of you who i have shot in the past out of state, i have some trips planned for this year, so feel free to email me with inquiries on when and where those will be. if you are interested in having me come to a new area - you can email me as well!

it has been great building my business in arizona, and i will definitely miss all of my wonderful clients. i just might have to add arizona as one of my out of state locations now :)

this album is a new coffee table book style that i am offering to my clients. this particular one is 7x10 when finished, so its perfect to have sitting out on the coffee table! I also like the more casual albums as a fun alternative to the big traditional ones.

i know its been awhile since i've posted. january is a little slower for portraits, although i do have some good ones coming up in the next couple weeks. i have been looking forward to the slow down because i'm working on some very exciting things!! the first is a major website update with my favorite work from 2007. this will take a little bit longer because i want to change it all at once as opposed to little by little. the other fun includes a couple album designs! here is a little preview of the one i'm working on right now - i am LOVING how its coming along, and i will be sure to post a slideshow of the pages once its complete! for now, this will have to hold you over :) this will actually be printed on the hardback book cover, so the left side will be wrapped around the back, and the right side will be the front...
